Son of Iranian-American Poet Arrested in NJ over ISIS-Inspired Plot

n a dramatic development, federal authorities arrested Milo Sedarat, the son of noted Iranian-American poet and professor Roger Sedarat, at his father’s home in Montclair, New Jersey. The arrest is tied to an alleged ISIS-inspired terror plot uncovered in Michigan.

According to sources, the plot aimed to target LGBTQ-friendly bars in Michigan, mirroring elements of the 2015 Paris attacks.

In connection with the investigation, another suspect, Tomas Kaan Guzel, 19, was arrested at Newark Liberty International Airport while apparently attempting to fly to Turkey with the intention of reaching Syria to train with ISIS.

The arrests followed a joint operation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the New York City Police Department Intelligence Bureau (NYPD) Intelligence Bureau. The Michigan component of the case had seen weapons and tactical gear seized from raids.

Federal prosecutors are preparing charges in New Jersey federal court against Sedarat and Guzel. The investigation remains active.
