Woman Stabbed at Chicago Train Station in Latest Transit Violence

A woman was violently stabbed at a Chicago transit station late Saturday night, according to police.

The victim, aged 27, was sitting on a bench at the UIC‑Halsted Blue Line station platform when a man allegedly pulled a large knife from his backpack and plunged it into her chest.

The attack reportedly occurred at about 11:14 p.m. on the platform near the University of Illinois-Chicago. After striking the woman, the suspect fled north on South Morgan Street.


The victim was taken to a local hospital with a laceration to her chest. Police say the assailant was last seen wearing a pink beanie, gray jacket, orange sweatshirt, light blue jeans, white shoes, and carrying a gray backpack.

Investigators are urging anyone with information to come forward.
This incident comes nearly three months after a high-profile stabbing of a commuter on a light-rail train in Charlotte, North Carolina, raising concerns about safety on public-transport systems nationwide.
