Louisiana Mom Honored for Assisting in Shoplifting Chase

In a commendable act of civic engagement, Louisiana resident Lesli Smith assisted the Slidell Police Department during a shoplifting incident at a local store. The police publicly recognized her efforts, presenting her with an official certificate of appreciation.

According to the department, officers responded to a reported shoplifting at a retail location in Slidell when Ms. Smith, who happened to be nearby, observed the event unfold. She stepped in, suspected the perpetrators and provided real‑time assistance by alerting officers and helping guide their pursuit.
