Federal authorities say they have foiled a planned terrorist attack set to take place during Halloween weekend in Michigan. The announcement came from FBI Director Kash Patel, who confirmed that multiple suspects were arrested in connection with the plot.
Patel posted on social media early Friday that the arrests were the result of a preemptive operation, though he provided few details on the nature of the attack, the identities of the suspects, or their intended targets. He thanked the FBI and law enforcement agencies for their continued vigilance in defending the homeland.
The Dearborn Police Department later confirmed that the FBI had conducted operations in that city, but reassured the public that there is no ongoing threat.
No further specifics have been made public at this time, and investigators say more information will be released as the case develops.
