NJ Sisters Speak Out After Viral Airport Meltdown Incident

Two sisters from New Jersey—Kiera Lyons, 23, and Maura Flores, 31—have spoken out following their removal from a Frontier Airlines flight at Orlando International Airport after an incident that went viral online. According to airlines and law-enforcement sources, the women were accused of being intoxicated and physically shoving a gate agent.

Lyons explained that during boarding she had felt unwell in the bathroom, citing a medical condition (celiac disease) and denying the level of intoxication attributed to her. She admitted to having “a couple of drinks,” but said she was not drunk and was surprised when asked to leave the plane.

Flores became visibly upset during the arrest process, and Lyons missed her college graduation at Stockton University after being held in Orange County jail.

The airline worker claimed that Lyons initially pushed her, followed by Flores, causing the agent to fall on a jet-bridge floor; multiple witnesses and body-cam footage supported the worker’s version of events. The sisters dispute having physically touched the agent and maintain they were misrepresented.

Both were charged with battery and disorderly intoxication. Their cases were later closed following completion of a pre-trial intervention (PTI) program that included community service and a fee payment.
