Morgan Geyser — one of the two girls responsible for the notorious 2014 “Slender Man” stabbing — was arrested Sunday night in Posen, Illinois, after fleeing her group home in Madison, Wisconsin. Upon arrest, she was found with a 43-year-old companion, identified as Chad “Charly” Mecca, who is transgender and whom Geyser repeatedly referred to as “she.”
According to police reports, Geyser cut off her ankle monitor and traveled over 150 miles from her facility before being apprehended at a truck stop where the pair were loitering and sleeping outside. Initially, she gave a false name to officers and said they could “just Google” her identity.

Mecca claimed that Geyser ran because the group home had denied them visitation rights, saying the escape was triggered by the fear of losing contact. Mecca received citations for criminal trespass and obstructing identification and was released pending a court date.
Geyser’s 2014 attack occurred when she and another 12-year-old girl lured a fellow classmate into a wooded park in Waukesha, Wisconsin, and stabbed her 19 times — all in an attempt to satisfy the fictional character Slender Man. The victim survived. Geyser was institutionalized after being found not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect, and was released to the group home under supervision earlier this year.

Her escape has raised serious concerns about monitoring and supervision of individuals released under court-ordered conditions. Authorities in Wisconsin are reviewing whether to revoke her conditional release and return her to institutional care.
