North Carolina Kart Racing Champ Tyler Weaver, 25 Murdered in Front of Fiancée

In a tragic incident in Forest City, North Carolina, 25‑year‑old kart racing champion Tyler Weaver was murdered during a targeted home invasion in which his fiancée witnessed the attack.

Police responded to a home on Harris Lee Drive around 9:50 a.m. on October 24, after reports of a break‑in. Inside, they found Weaver lying on the floor with multiple gunshot wounds; his fiancée was inside the home and managed to escape and call authorities.
Forest City Police Chief Chris LeRoy described the incident as a “robbery gone bad” and confirmed the attack was targeted rather than random.

Weaver had previously won the 2018 Maxxis Kart Racing National Championship twice, and was known not only for his racing prowess but for his generous spirit and work in the electrical trades. His passing has left the racing community and his family deeply in mourning.

Two suspects — Quitez Lamare Watkins (35) and Jaquavious Antwan Craig (26) — have been arrested and charged with first‑degree murder in connection with the case. Both have lengthy criminal records involving violent offenses and drugs.
They are currently held without bond at the Rutherford County Detention Center while the investigation continues.

Weaver’s family — including his mother, sister and fiancée — have released statements describing him as having “a heart of gold” and being “taken far too soon.” His legacy in the karting world and local community stands as a testament to his talent and character.
