In a tragic incident during evening rush hour, a woman was killed when she was struck by a subway train at the Port Authority Bus Terminal station in New York City.
The incident occurred as crowds were boarding trains and commuters were navigating the busy platform. Transit personnel and NYPD officers responded immediately after the train came to a stop and the emergency alarms were activated.
Service on the affected line was suspended temporarily, causing delays and reroutes while investigators worked to clear the scene. Authorities stated that the woman was pronounced dead at the station. The MTA and NYPD are probing the circumstances that led to her entering the trackway.
Commuters were held on the platform for several minutes before being diverted to alternate trains. An announcement was made warning of “major delays” and urging riders to consider other routes.

The cause of the fatality remains under review — investigators will examine surveillance footage, train operator logs, and platform access. As always in such cases, the transit authority urges the public to remain behind the yellow line and to call 911 or use Help Point devices if they witness a track intrusion.
